How do I…?
Common tasks and examples for the ways people actually use FolderyMenu day to day.
How do I make a quick project hub?
Add one main project folder, then pin the two or three files you open repeatedly. This gives you a simple “project desk” in the menu bar.
How do I search only for folder names?
Use the 'Search Folder Names Only' box with your search term/s. Browse ONLY those matching folders. Will display parent folders until a match of your Folder Name term in any of the subfolders (up to 4 levels deep).
How do I make one quick list of files from many subfolders?
Turn on consolidation for the saved folder. FolderyMenu can then show one combined file view instead of making you open each subfolder one at a time. This also works for folder name matching.
Can I find files or folders using Wildcards?
Yes! Use * or ? in your search term
How do I search by file size?
Use the File Size filter in Customize My Menu Items to limit a saved folder to files in a size range. Choose the folder closest to the files you want, then pick the size group that matches your goal.
How Applications and Web Links Are Added
Applications and webpages can be added to FolderyMenu just like the other things you use most, then organized into their own parts of the menu for quick access.
Adding applications
Drag an app onto the FolderyMenu icon, or add it manually from Settings. FolderyMenu places apps into the Applications area automatically, and you can pin the ones you use most.
Adding webpages
Drag a webpage or link into FolderyMenu, or add it manually. Saved webpages appear in the Web Links area so you can open them quickly from the menu bar.
How they are organized
Apps are grouped with Applications, and webpages are grouped with Web Links. Pinned items stay easy to find, so your most-used folders, files, apps, and sites each have a clear place in the menu.
How do I drag files to another app or webpage?
Put the files in Foldery Folder, open it, then drag the file from FolderyMenu to the destination.
- Drag to Finder to copy into a different folder.
- Drag to an email app that accepts file drops.
- Drag to a web page upload field.
- Drag to apps like design tools, note apps, chat apps, or document editors that support file drops.
Navigating Menus
Under settings, there are options to customize how you navigate through the menus.
- Enable Foldery Folders: Replaces finder with FolderyFolder view, which displays the curated list in a custom view. All your filters are kept, even when navigating subfolders.
- Folder Click Option > Single Click opens Submenu in Place: A click replaces the current menu (root) with the file/subfolder listing. No need to navigate between menus.
- Folder Click Option > Single Click opens FolderyFolder / Finder: A click opens the listing in a FolderyFolder window, or Finder depending upon the setting "Enable Foldery Folders".
- Double-Click Item: For main FolderyMenu Itesm, opens the Customization screen for that folder. FOr submenu folders, opens the fodler in FolderyFolder or Finder. For files, Opens the file.
- Drag to apps like design tools, note apps, chat apps, or document editors that support file drops.
How do I keep FolderyMenu useful instead of crowded?
Think of FolderyMenu as your “most-used” layer, not your entire filing cabinet. Remove stale items, pin your true essentials, and keep the menu centered on what you need often.
How do I build a good demo setup?
Create a few realistic folders and files with clear names, different dates, and mixed file types. Then show sorting, pinning, searching, consolidation, and dragging from Foldery Folder.
